Hansen Sheffy Lewis transferred to Virginia Tech as a sophomore. He went on to earn a Chemical Engineering degree. At 21 years of age he registered for World War I. Lewis served as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry, and was honorably discharged from the military on June 5, 1918.
