After graduation he went to Ft. Monroe VA and at the end of 14 months his unit was scheduled to sail for France on 15 November 1918. However, after the Armistice on November 11 that was cancelled.
Postwar Life
He went to work for the General Electric Co., Schenectady, N.Y. for three years. In Oct. 1926 he moved to Lynchburg, Va. to work for the Appalachian Power Co., a subsidiary of the American Electric Co. of N.Y. He was superintendent of the Meter Dept. of a much larger territory, requiring hard work and many changes over the years. He retired in 1962 after forty years in the career of an electrical engineer. His hobby was gardening and he developed a beautiful azalea garden on his lawn which 'sloped down to a small stream.
