Military Events

Entered the first Fort Myer Officers' Training Camp in May 1917. After receiving his commission as second lieutenant in July he was sent to Camp Lee with the 319th Infantry and from there went over the with 80th Blue Ridge Division. After seeing some actual fighting he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and put in charge of the transport and supply train for his regiment which he held until the armistice was signed.
