Military Events

Went to Norfolk in May 1917 and enlisted in the naval Reserves. He was assigned to a sub-chaser and after serving for about two months he was transferred to the hydroplane service and sent to Boston Tech. Finishing there, he was ordered to the Naval Air Station at Hampton Roads, and later to the Baloon field at Columbus, Ohio. Returning to Hampton Roads in November 1918 he received his commission and was placed on inactive duty after the armistice was signed.
