The 1923 VPI Bugle yearbook reports that Forrest flew in France. During that time he piloted a burning aeroplane for a 1500 foot descent before he was forced to give up and crash to earth. After this mishap sustained the following injuries: one broken ankle, four broken rips, broken nose, and numerous lacerations of the face and body.
