Willard Glasgow Maynard was born May 7th, 1899 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Maynard attended VPI from 1916-1918. His father and all of his brothers also attended VPI. In the war, Maynard served in the naval reserves. At VPI he was part of the "Norfolk Club" after leaving VPI he went back to Norfolk and worked as an underwriter. He met his wife, Marie Jeanette Maynard and moved with her to Winter Park, Florida shortly after they married. Maynard registered for the Second World War draft while living in Florida with Jeanette. He died in 1953 in Winter Park, Florida.

Postwar Life

After the war, Maynard spent time in Norfolk, New York, and New Orleans before moving to Florida around 1940. Because of his position in the Naval reserves he made trips to Honduras and other locations.
