P.C. Long, or Paul Chancellor Long, was born on the Fourth of July in 1896 in Roanoke to George and Rebecca Long. While attending VPI, Long was a member of the Roanoke Club and the German Club, and graduated in 1920. During the First World War, he served as a Second Lieutenant of the Field Artillery of the Reserve Officers of the United States. Following the war, Long married Anne Long, and had three children. Employed as a worker in the automobile industry and a mechanical engineer in an electrical appliance factory in St. Louis, Missouri during his life, Long spent the rest of his days in Dayton, Ohio, dying on June 25, 1951.

Note: The entirety of the research of this was based on the identity of Paul Chancellor Long, who was a resident of Roanoke, and was found in the U.S. Army Register, Volumes 1-10, in which the information found matched the War Bugle of 1919's information. However, in the Bugle of 1917, there is an appearance of the name Paul Chandelor Long, a resident of Roanoke. In no other document available is this name found again.
