Postwar Life

After his time of service, John Cloyd worked as a medical doctor. He died at the age of 68 due to a heart condition that caused the walls of his arteries to become thick and harden. He was diagnosed with Generalized Arteriosclerosis at the age of 58 and Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease at the age of 60 (Pennsylvania, Death Certificates, 1906-1964).
