            - Citation: "For extrodinary heroism in action near the North of Verdun, France, October 15 and 23, 1918. After being severley gassed, he continued to advance with his company in spite of suffering great pain. On October 23, when his company was under heavy flanking fire from machine guns, he rescued several wounded men and administered first-aid treatment."
